Jim Harbaugh: Should He Stay or Should He Go
Between now and next season, it seems almost inevitable for Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers to part. Not only has Harbaugh upset the 49ers front office on multiple occasions, but rumors have been floating around that Harbaugh has received an offer for $8 Million a year from the University of Michigan , his ala mater. The only reason that the coach is still in San Francisco is simple: Harbaugh wins games.
Over the past four years, his career winning percentage of 0.694 is the 2nd best winning percentage among all San Francisco coaches in history, who have coached for atleast one season. His winning percentage is even ahead of legendary coach Bill Walsh, and rival coach Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks.
Therefore, going into next season if the 49ers are willing to win games at any cost, the smart move would be to keep Jim Harbaugh at head coach. I think they should give him another chance with a two or three year contract and make a long term decision from there. As Vince Lombardi once said, "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing".
